Treatment for Periodontitis and Gum Disease

Scaling

The first phase of the treatment is scaling, which involves removing all the plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) from both above and below the gumline. It’s essential that we clean all the way down to the bottom of the pocket formed by gum disease to ensure all bacteria are removed.

Root Planing

The second phase of treatment is root planing. In this step, we smooth the root surfaces of your teeth to remove any remaining bacteria and prevent plaque and tartar from re-adhering. This process helps the gums reattach to the teeth, promoting healing and reducing the risk of further infection.
