Effective Treatments for Gum Disease and Periodontitis

Scaling

The first phase of treatment is scaling, which removes all plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) from both above and below the gumline. It’s important to clean all the way down to the bottom of the pockets created by gum disease to eliminate harmful bacteria effectively.

Root Planing

The second phase is root planing, where the surfaces of your tooth roots are smoothed. This removes any remaining bacteria and helps prevent plaque and tartar from building up again. Root planing also allows your gums to reattach to your teeth, promoting healing and reducing the risk of further infection.
